Uzbekistan (and around), Summer 2000
These are from scanned film negatives taken with a point-and-shoot, and follow from the Mongolia and Western China gallery. I crossed into Kyrgyzstan from Kashgar, and after a week mainly around (Lake) Issyk-kul, I headed to the great old cities of Uzbekistan--Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva--where almost all of the following photos were taken. From there I flew to the Caucasus countries and Istanbul (also in a separate gallery). Uzbekistan, with its rich mixture of Uzbek, Tajik and other cultures past and present, Now that we live here I have had the pleasure of revisiting Uzbekistan.
