Shwenandaw Kyaung, Mandalay. This was among my favorite structures in Myanmar--it is built entirely of teakwood and the carvings are beautiful. The building was originally part of the Royal Palace, the rest of which was largely destroyed during World War II and later atrociously reconstructed.

From Bhutan I flew to Myanmar, with time to see only Yangon, Bagan and the sights around Mandalay. The country is a treasurehouse.
